Ⅰ. Applicant eligibility
Where the registered item in a foreigner’s residence permit has changed. The registered items of a foreigners residence permit shall include name, sex, date of birth, reason for residence, place of issuance, passport number or other international travel documents number, and dependents on same passport.
Ⅱ. Supporting documents and relative requirements
1. Valid passport or other international travel documents (If the applicant is using a new passport, he or she should also provide the original old passport).
2. Completely filled VISA/STAY PERMIT／RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION FORM with recent half-length, white background, bareheaded, full-faced 2-inch color photo. Please fill in the application form in black ink or sign pen.
3. Valid accommodation registration of the applicant provided by the local police station or hotel of present residence.
4. A proof stating why the residence permit has to be changed.
(1) If the passport number or other travel document number has to be changed, the applicant should submit the receipt from the issuing Embassy, or the certificate of posting.
(2) If the name, gender, or birth date etc. has to be changed, the applicant should submit a proof provided by his or her own embassy to China.
(3) If the purpose of stay has to be changed, the applicant should submit documents related to the new purpose of stay.
(4) If the stay city has to be changed to Beijing, relevant documents about the purpose of stay should be submitted.
(5) If the dependents on same passport has to be changed, relevant kinship proof or passport should be submitted.
5. Other supporting materials that the Exit And Entry Administration Department requires.
Ⅲ. Points for Attention
1. The applicant shall go through a face-to-face interview. However, for applicants who aged under 16 or above 60, or inconvenient to travel due to disability, the host person, or the applicant’s relatives, or a particular service agency can submit the application on behalf of the applicant (a copy of the trustee’s ID is required). Nonetheless, if the Exit And Entry Administration Department notifies the applicant that an interview personally.
2. The applicant shall submit the application to the issuer of residence permit within 10 days after the change happened, and provide all the relevant proof documents.
3. For the above-stated materials, the original documents need to be verified, and submit the copies.
4. Any application materials in foreign language (except English) should be translated into Chinese by qualified translation Company before submission.
