2015 Walking around Kunming Lake for International Friends

“2015 Walking around Kunming Lake for International Friends” is to be held on Saturday, October 24th at the Kunming Lake of the Summer Palace. With ‘Enjoy Beauty of Nature and Feel Friendship of Beijing’ as the theme, the activity focuses on both exercising and recreational elements in walking, advocating a relaxing way of keeping fit rather than racing. The participants will walk into the greens to enjoy the harmony between human and nature.

Event Info

a). Distance: 8 kilometers

b). Route: Wenchangyuan (Wenchang Gallery)—East Bank of Kunming Lake—Gengzhitu—Wenchangyuan

c). Registration Time: 13:00;  Starting and closing Time: 14:00——17:00

d). Start & finish: Wenchangge Gate Tower on the east side of Kunming Lake

Participation:

a)       Participants: Non-Chinese staff members of foreign embassies to China; foreign experts and students.

b)      Qualification: Participants should be physically healthy. Patients with chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases shall be declined; juveniles who want to participate must be companied by their guardians.

c)       Registration Period: Now.

d)      Registration Place: International Students Office

e)       Entry Fee: Free(The School will cover all the entry fee for every student).

g)      Enrollment of up to 28, first come first served 

Awards:

All the participants of the walking event will receive the souvenirs according to the logos they have collected during the walk.

Notice to Walkers

1.The checking and registering begin at 13:00 and lasts until 13:55 at registration desk by the start area at the Wenchangyuan Compound. Participants are expected to write down their names, nationality and organizations in the roll-call sheet.

2.Those who have suffered from chronicle diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, cerebral thrombosis and other diseases that are not suitable for long-distance walking and those with flu symptoms such as high fever and cough are declined to participate.

3.During checking and registering, each walker will be offered the pass, a T shirt and a brochure.

4.After checking and registering, walkers are expected to gather in front of the platform.

5.A performance will be staged on the platform at 13:30. Walkers can watch it while waiting for the event to start.

6.Walkers are expected to attend the setting-off ceremony from 14:00 to 14:30 at the platform.

7.Direction boards will be seen and some staff members will be showing direction with red flag along the walking course.

8.There are 3 aid stations along the walking course (please refer to the map of walking course about the locations). Drinking water is available there and each walker will be given a sticky sign.

9.Walkers who finish the course will receive certificates and souvenirs at the finish by signs they have got in the 3 aid stations.

10.The whole event will come to a conclusion at 17:00.
