Brief introduction of the program

The Chinese Language program provides language training to students of various Chinese levels. Students will take the placement test and then be assigned to different class levels accordingly.

The mandatory courses are taught every morning from Monday to Friday. The courses are Oral Chinese, Listening Comprehension, Reading, Intensive Reading, Literature Reading and Writing, Ancient Chinese, Topics on Contemporary China. The elective courses usually take place in the afternoon and they are mainly open for advanced learners. The courses are Chinese Magazine reading, Chinese Culture, Chinese Human Geography, Ancient History of China, Contemporary and Modern History of China, Chinese Fictions, Modern Chinese Drama, Tang Poem and Song Lyrics, Business Chinese, etc..Students can choose to study for one semester or one year.

Eligibility

Applicant should have a high school diploma or above with non-Chinese nationality and age between 18 to 50 years old.

Key Date of Application

Application for fall semester: March 1 to May 15

Application for spring semester: October 1 to December 15

Application Procedure

1) Complete the online application and print the completed form. The online application can be found at: iso.ruc.edu.cn and click “Apply Online” button

2) Submit the following supporting documents

a. Application form

b. The copy of the highest degree diploma (English or Chinese version). If the applicant cannot provide the diploma at the time of application, please provide the official pre-graduation certificate

c. The original Academic Transcript of the highest degree (English or Chinese version)

d. The copy of passport

e. Two 2-inch pictures

f. RMB 800 application fee (non-refundable)

g. The signed Guarantee Statement (can be found at: iso.ruc.edu.cn)

h. The copy of visa page （for the applicants live in China）

Students can submit the documents to International Students Office (ISO) or mail the documents to the office directly. All the hard copies must be received by deadline. Late submission will not be reviewed. The admission package will be sent out in 4 to 6 weeks once the application is accepted. The admission package will include the admission letter, JW202 form for visa application, Dorm Reservation Information Sheet and other documents..

Tuition: 24000 RMB/year, 12000 RMB/semester
