The International MBA (IMBA) program, ranked No. 38th Globally in 2020 by Financial Times (FT), boasts award-winning faculty with expertise in Chinese and global business practices. This carefully crafted program reflects the School's mission of  “to contribute Chinese management wisdom and global leadership talents to the world.”  We aim to educate business elites with inclusive leadership who make optimal business decisions based upon technical and management foundations, social responsibility perspective, and quality management practices.

The IMBA curriculum is designed to offer an integrated practical pedagogical approach in management education that includes abundant case-based teaching, company visits, consulting projects, business mentorship, global networking opportunities and a final graduation thesis in the form of a case study to help students combine management knowledge with practical resources, ignite self-reflection, and achieve personal growth.

Program Structure

2-year, full-time

43 credits

Master's thesis (30,000-word case study)


RMB 178,000 (for two academic years, paid on an annual basis)


Eligibility Criteria:

1 Two or more years of relevant work experience, preferred

2 Bachelor's degree or higher

3 A competitive GMAT/GRE score (GMAT Code: KHB-NM-91, GRE DL: 3735 Renmin U China Schl Business), currently a minimum score of GMAT 550/GRE 285 is recommended

4 Non-native English speakers must submit one of the following

1)Certificate of bachelor's degree taught in English

2)IELTS score above 6.0

3)TOEFL score above 90

9 A non-refundable application fee of 800 RMB

10 A guarantee of financial status such as a certificate of employment, bank certificate, or other documents that could provide evidence that the applicant has sufficient means for the duration of study, if applicable

11 A completed Health Examination Report

12 Published papers or other supporting materials, if applicable

13 Complicated scholarship application form, if applicable

What Will I Learn?

Our IMBA program aims at providing students with the skills needed for a successful global career. Upon graduation, you will be equipped with the technical foundations in core management fields such as finance, operations, and accounting, and will have developed analytical skills to make complex business decisions.

From 43 credits required to complete the IMBA program, 24 credits are in core courses that build students' management foundation, 12 credits are in electives to prepare students for a particular direction in management, and 7 credits are in general courses that familiarize students with China's socio-cultural environment. Students conclude the program with a master's thesis, which is a minimum 30,000-word case study focusing on a specific enterprise chosen by the student and approved by a thesis advisor. The Program also offers a specialization career track option in “Financial Management”.

An IMBA Advisory Committee is specifically established at RMBS to review and revise each year's curriculum to ensure the quality of the program and that courses are updated according to the new global trends.

Students are free to choose from numerous electives that the School offers. Apart from our own courses, IMBA students can also choose elective courses offered by the Law School, School of Public Administration and Policy, School of International Studies, and International Summer School, which offers over 130 courses each summer.

To be qualified for our specialized Career Track of Financial Management, students are required to complete at least 8 credits in approved elective courses. An official RMBS Career Track Certificate will be awarded to qualified students upon graduation.
