Essay Competition for International Students

Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchanges (CSCSE) and People’s Daily (Overseas Edition) are co-sponsoring an Essay Competition to reflect the international students’ perceptions of the changes and development taken place in China during the past 5 years. The competition aims to enrich international students’ lives in China, and to strengthen the friendship between international students and Chinese people.

Participants: International students living in China

Theme:  Myself and China


1. The specific subject of the essay can be determined by candidates. Various aspects of society, culture and economy in China can be reflected in the essay, especially the changes and development of China in the past 5 years.

2. There are no restrictions on style or genre. Essays should be about 800 words long and must be written in Chinese.

Deadline: July 21st, 2017.

Outstanding essays will be published on People’s Daily (Overseas Edition) and the authors will be awarded.

Essays should be sent by e-mail to with the name(s), nationality, university/college and electronic photos of the author(s) attached.
